On the afternoon of February 18, the Hubei Science and Technology Innovation Conference was held in Hongshan Assembly Hall. The 2020 Provincial Science and Technology Award was awarded at the conference. Xu Nanping, vice minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Ying Yong, secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, attended the conference and delivered speeches. Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor Wang Xiaodong presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.

Before the Conference, the young pioneers presented flowers to 16 Hubei scientists on the red carpet and accompanied them into the venue. Academician Zhang Qingjie, the president of WUT, attended the conference on behalf of WUT as the specially invited scientist. Professor Wu Shaopeng and Professor Song Yanli attended the conference as representatives of the award-winning projects and receive the award.

In 2020, 17 achievements of WUT won the Hubei Science and Technology Award. As the leading unit, WUT won 2 first prizes, 5 second prizes, and 3 third prizes. As participating unit, WUT won 1 first prize, 4 second prizes, and 2 third prizes.
