On the afternoon of November 5th, the BRI International Transport Symposium of World Transport Convention 2022 (WTC 2022) was held online. With the theme of the training and enhancement of international transportation talents,the symposium was mainly organized by the China Highway & Transportation Society, BRITA, CAST UN Consultative Committee on Transport & Sustainable Infrastructure, and co-organized by China Centre for International Science and Technology Exchange, International Road Federation, the BRI International Green Development Coalition, Wuhan University of Technology, Beijing University of Technology, Chongqing Jiaotong University, etc.
The conference invited 19 experts and scholars from home and abroad to exchange views, including Professor Yan Xinping, Director of the Academic Committee of WUT, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chairman of CAST UN Consultative Committee on Transport & Sustainable Infrastructure; Professor Tang Boming, President of Chongqing Jiaotong University and Director of the Working Committee of China Highway & Transportation Society for Transport Colleges and Universities; Mr. Liu Wenjie, Vice President and Secretary General of China Highway & Transportation Society, Vice President of International Road Federation and Executive Chairman and Secretary General of BRITA; Professor Fan Wen, Vice President of Chang'an University; Professor George Giannopoulos, Academician of the Athens Academy of Sciences, former President of the Hellenic Academy of Transport and Vice Chairman of BRITA; Mr. James Maina, Professor of the University of Pretoria, South Africa, Member of the South African Academy of Engineering and Vice Chairman of BRITA; Professor RISKULOV Alimjan Akhmadjanovich, Dean of the Joint Educational Institute of Tashkent State University, Uzbekistan, and Vice President of BRITA; Mr. Gonzalo Alcaraz, Deputy Secretary General of the International Road Federation; Mr. Chen Shaochun, Vice President of Overseas Investment Department of AECOM, etc.
Academician Yan Xinping was invited to deliver a welcome speech at the opening ceremony of the conference on behalf of CAST UN Consultative Committee on Transport & Sustainable Infrastructure. He pointed out that Chinese colleges and universities bear the sacred mission of establishing moral education and nurturing talents for the country. They should actively serve for the national major strategic needs and respond to the demands of talent training of the new era. They should constantly adapt to the changes of development, focus on building a new mode of international talent training, and accelerate the cultivation of high-level international talents with global vision.
In the keynote report session, Professor Fan Wen and Mr. Chen Shaochun presented their reports in turns. In the round-table discussion session, experts combined their expertise and experience to have a heated and in-depth discussion on the cultivation and enhancement of international transportation talents.
The symposium was simulcast through the official video channel of WTC, and more than 1700 viewers watched the conference online.
