  English-teaching Program for Master Students
in Industrial Engineering (EPMSIE)

1. Educational Objectives 

  Industrial Engineering (IE) is an interdisciplinary comprehensive engineering subject between hard technology and management technology. Oriented by reducing the cost, improving the quality and productivity, and realizing the sustainable development, IE, adopting method of systematization, specialization and science, identifies, forecasts and evaluates the operation and effect of the integrated system composed of man, material, machine, energy and information through using multiple hard technology and management technology.

  The major intends to cultivate the students to be the advanced engineering technology talented persons, working at planning and design of management system on producing, marketing, server field.

  ● Systematically mastering the basic theories, methods and profession knowledge of IE;

  ● Well understanding modern engineering economy and modern project management theory;

  ● Mastering the advanced technology and means of dealing with the project technology problem;

  ● Being able to analyze and handle realistic operation problems by using above theories and methods.

3. Courses 

  EPMSIE is a three-year postgraduate program in which two major sections are placed separately in course study and research training. The completion of this program depends on the credits earned by the students from the below mentioned under the supervisor's instruction after enrollment and research work. 28 credits are required in this program, among which 18 credits are from major course taking.

  Main Courses: Numerical Calculation, Symbolic Statistics, Random Process, Operations Research, Operations Management, Decision-making theory & methods, Logistics systems design & analysis, Organization Ergonomics, Engineering Economic Analysis, Forefront Lectures in IE, Lean manufacturing theory and practice, Logistics Automation Technique, System Simulation theory, Introduction of Manufacturing Information System, Quality Management and Certification, Data Mining Theory and Technique, Project Management, Equipment Maintenance and Management.

  

4. Research Training 

  During the study at the university, students should complete learning and project research as assigned by their supervisors. Following that, a formal thesis proposal presentation is needed just after the required credits are fulfilled. Each postgraduate student should prepare a presentation on their selected topic for an evaluation process and the approval is subject to the quality of their research work.

  Throughout the academic years, postgraduate students should actively center on learning and research under the guidance of supervisors. The scientific work usually includes speeches in seminars, collecting information, writing research papers, participating academic conferences and joining a research group.

  The topic of master's degree thesis should be of theoretical significance or important application prospects of IE research area. Postgraduate students are encouraged to write their thesis by using a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. Those international comparative studies are strongly suggested in line with the program.

  

5. Teaching Team 

  The Teaching team is mainly composed of teachers with experiences of studying at top Euramerican universities. They are all experienced at how to teach and instruct international students. Some courses are taught by scholars of well-known Euramerican universities.
