Nobel Laureate in Chemistry Professor Jean-Marie Lehn Joined WUT
On November 1st, WUT held the appointment ceremony for Professor Jean-Marie Lehn(father of supramolecular chemistry, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, academician of French Academy of Sciences, foreign associate of Chinese Academy of Sciences, foreign associate of National Academy of Sciences of USA, professor of University of Strasbourg ) to officially appoint him as an honorary professor of our university.
Vice-president Liu Zuyuan hosted the appointment ceremony and briefly introduced academic achievements of Professor Jean-Marie Lehn.
On behalf of WUT, vice president Liu Zuyuan issued the letter of appointment to Professor Jean-Marie Lehn. He stated that Professor Jean-Marie Lehn joining our university as an honorary professor is a grand event to our project of recruiting overseas academic masters. It would exert important and far-reaching influence on technological innovation and international communication of our university. He pointed out that to in the first year of 13th five-year plan, in order to achieve the educational goal by 2020 and development vision of building an excellent university which can be satisfied by people and admired by the world, the key is to gathering talents, especially domestic and overseas academic masters and leading elites. With his profound academic achievements, innovative academic thoughts and broad international vision, Professor Jean-Marie Lehn would offer our university support and assistance in academic development as well as illumination to stimulate innovation of our teachers and students.
Professor Jean-Marie Lehn was very glad to be appointed as an honorary professor of our university and he hoped to have extensive and deep cooperation with our university in Chemistry and other related areas.
Professor Jean-Marie Lehn is an academician of French Academy of Sciences, a foreign associate of Chinese Academy of Sciences, a foreign associate of National Academy of Sciences of USA and a foreign honorary member of American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was Professor at the University of Strasbourg and Collège de France, and is now Professor at University of Strasbourg Institute for Advanced Study (USIAS). Initiated a brand-new research area of chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, Professor Jean-Marie Lehn was known as the father of supramolecular chemistry. Till now, he has published over 900 academic papers.
