  WUT Delegation Visiting New Zealand and Australia

  Recently, a WUT delegation led by vice president Liu Zuyuan visited New Zealand and Australia to recruit high-level talents by holding overseas high-level recruitment fairs in the University of Auckland, Monash University and the University of Sydney. Over 140 people including doctoral students, post-doctoral students and teaching and R&D faculty with various titles were attracted to the fairs. The fairs were supported by Chinese embassies, Chinese Students and Scholars Association of several universities, overseas distinguished experts of WUT, overseas alumni association and visiting scholars. During the period, vice president was invited to visit several universities in Australia and New Zealand and embassies. Also, vice president visited several domestic well-known specialists and scholars.

  On the recruitment fairs, vice president Liu Zuyuan briefly introduced WUT as well as its recent development on discipline construction, talents, cultivation of innovative talents, etc. Also, he emphasized talent introduction policies of China, Hubei province and especially our university. Vice president Liu Zuyuan and his team answered questions which were concerned by students and scholars attended the fair. The recruitment fairs aroused wise attention among overseas talents. Many students and scholars expressed their willingness to work for our university in the fair or through letters. Some applicants have reached the standards to apply for candidates of various talent programs of the nation, Hubei province and our university.

  While in the University of Auckland, vice president Liu Zuyuan met UoA leaders of International Office, School of Engineering and School of Education respectively. The two parties had an in-depth discussion and reached a consensus on scientific research and cooperation of discipline of engineering and education, exchange visits of professors and joint cultivation of students, etc.

  In Monash University, vice president Liu Zuyuan met Professor AbidKha (a vice president leads?Global Engagement), Professor FriederSeible (a vice president leads scientific research and industry engagement) and principals of school of engineering and International Office. The two parties agreed to strengthen cooperation on scientific research, academic communication, joint organization of academic meetings, exchange visits of professors and joint cultivation of students, etc. Vice president Liu Zuyuan and his team also held a forum with several students engaged in 2+2 program of our university in Monash University to learn about their overseas school lives and ask them for suggestions on teaching plans and teaching management.

  While in Australia, Vice President Liu Zuyuan met counselor Niu Wenqi and Consul Liu Jianbo of Education office, Consulate-General of the PRC in Sydney. The two parties had an in-depth discussion on cooperation with institutions of higher learning and scientific research institutes of Australia and on recruiting high-level talents. During their visit in University of Sydney, the delegation visited the laboratory of School of Civil Engineering and exchanged ideas on talent cultivation, scientific research.

  While in Australia, Vice President Liu Zuyuan held meetings with overseas high-level talents including academician Xie Shengquan (a strategic scientist of WUT who works in University of Auckland), Professor Li Chuanqing (Chairman of Alumni Association of Australia who works in RMIT?University), Professor Shen Zhiqi of Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, Professor Zhang Chengqi (director of center for QCIS of University of Technology, Sydney), Professor Gu Tao (Candidate specialist of Hundred Talents Program who works at RMIT University) and Professor Lei Chengwang (“Chutian Scholar” of WUT who works at University of Sydney).
