 Xin Sijin, Party Secretary of WUT, Visits France and Belgium     
  
  From December 13 to 19, Xin Sijin, Secretary of the Party Committee of WUT, led a delegation to France to attend the 7th annual meeting of the council of WUT—Université de Lorraine Joint Confucius Institute. He also visited the Facultés universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix and Universiteit Antwerpen in Belgium to promote in-depth exchanges and cooperation with them. In the meantime, the overseas high-level personnel recruitment fairs were held in Paris and Brussels respectively.
  
  The 7th annual meeting of the council of WUT—Université de Lorraine Joint Confucius Institute was held on December 14 at the Université de Lorraine-Campus à Metz. China’s council members, including Xin Sijin, Party Secretary of WUT, and France’s counterparts, including Pierre Mutzenhart, President of Université de Lorraine, Doan Tran, Vice Mayor of the city of Metz, and Mariama Traore, Foreign Affairs adviser of the president of Université de Lorraine attended the meeting, which was chaired by Pierre Mutzenhart, President of Université de Lorraine.
  
  The 2018 annual report on final accounts of expenditure and the 2019 annual report on activity plan and the project expenditure budget of the Confucius Institute were unanimously adopted by the meeting. And a series of constructive suggestions were proposed in terms of the work of the Confucius Institute in the new year and its future development plan. During the meeting, Xin Shijin held talks with President Mutzenhart of Université de Lorraine. He proposed that the two universities would continue to strengthen exchanges at all levels in various fields, promoting cooperation in scientific research and talents training between both universities on the platform of the Confucius Institute.

  From December 15 to 16, Xin Sijin, Party Secretary of WUT, led a delegation to Paris and Brussels respectively, where he held two overseas high-level personnel recruitment fairs and visited alumina of WUT in these two cities. During his stay in Brussels, Xin Sijin also exchanged views with Che Weimin, Minister Counselor of the Cultural and Education Section of the Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the European Union on issues such as China-EU educational cooperation.

  On December 17, the delegation visited the the Facultés universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix in Belgium. Party Secretary Xin Sijin, on behalf of WUT, signed an interuniversity cooperation agreement with Naji Habra, President of Facultés universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix. Both parties exchanges plans on talents training in the fields of materials, computer, economy as well as language and literature in addition to teachers exchange and mutual scientific research. During the visit, the delegation also paid a visit to laboratories of ion accelerator, center for diffraction, photon-promoted synthesis, applied chemistry and materials and so on.

  On December 18, the delegation visited the Universiteit Antwerpen in Belgium. Xin Sijin held talks with Professor Ronny Blust, Vice President of scientific research of Universiteit Antwerpen. Both sides had discussions on further strengthening the talents training in the fields of materials, environment and economy, as well as teachers visiting and scientific research cooperation between the two universities. During that period of time, Xin Sijin also paid a visit to Professor Van Tendeloo, Distinguished Professor of WUT, and made an in-depth discussion on strengthening the construction and development of the Nanostructure Research Center of WUT. Accompanied by him, Party Secretary Xin Sijin visited theElectron Microscopy for Materials Science(EMAT).
