President of Aix-Marseille Université Visited WUT


On the afternoon of Feb. 28, President Zhang Qingjie met with Yvon Berland, President of Aix-Marseille Université, France, with his entourage at the Conference Center 103. President Berlan was accompanied by Thierry Paul, Vice President of the Aix-Marseille Université’s for Teaching Affairs, Marie Masclet, Vice-President for Council Affairs, and Sylvie Daviet, Vice President for International Affairs, and Virginie Perret, Director of the Executive Office. Kang Canhua, Vice President of WUT, Shen Zuwu, Vice President of WUT, deans and directors of related units, including Party and Executive Office, Teaching Affairs Office, Graduate School, Department of International Exchange and Cooperation, School of Chemical Engineering and Life Sciences, and other related directors attended the meeting.

President Zhang Qingjie welcomed President Berlan's visit. He said that it was an important achievement of Sino-French higher education cooperation to co-sponsor WUT—Aix-Marseille Université Joint School, approved by the Ministry of Education, which signified the higher level of WUT’s international education. President Berlan’s visit in WUT is the right opportunity to exchange in-depth constructive views, to build Aix-Marseille School better with constructive plans. The cooperation between two universities offer a platform for both developing, especially for students international perspectives cultivation.


President Berland expressed gratitude to President Zhang Qingjie for the hospital reception. He said that Aix-Marseille Université has always attached great importance to strategic cooperation with WUT. He hoped that through the joint construction of Aix-Marseille School in WUT,two universities would strengthen the cooperation in academic research, talents cultivation and all-round aspects for the in-depth communication and further development.


Presidents from two universities jointly unveiled the nameplate of WUT—Aix-Marseille Université Joint School of WUT, and convened the first meeting of the Joint Management Committee of the Aix-Marseille School of WUT in accordance with the agenda. In addition, they discussed items including the members list of Aix-Marseille School Committee, teaching plan and development project.


After the meeting, President Berlan and his entourage, accompanied by Vice President Kang Canhua, visited the new Building of Schools of Chemical Engineering and Life Sciences in the South Lake Campus, which will serve as the site for Aix-Marseille School when completed. President Berlan and his entourage also visited the WUT’s art museum, classrooms with intelligence equipment in NO. 3 teaching building, the executive offices of Aix-Marseille Université and the staff apartments.
