Professor Yan Xinping's team won the Annual Best-Paper Award of the International Conference on Computer and Information Technology Application in Maritime Industries


  Recently, on behalf of Professor Yan Xinping's team, Liu Jialun and Ma Feng, both are the Associate Researchers of the Intelligent Transportation Systems Research Center of WUT, were invited to participate in the 18th Conference on Computer and IT Applications in the Maritime Industries (COMPIT 2019) held in Tullamore of Ireland.


  Professor Yan Xinping, Associate Researcher Ma Feng, Associate Researcher Liu Jialun and Professor Wang Xuming's paper entitled Applying the Navigation Brain System to Inland Ferries were selected for reading and discussions at the conference. This paper introduces the concept and connotation of "Navigational Brain" system and its application of functional testing in terms of enhanced driving, assisted driving, intelligent navigation and intelligent ships in Nanjing Banqiao ferrying system, and makes on-the-spot online system demonstration. This paper also introduces the research progress made by Intelligent Transportation System Research Center in the terms of intelligence long-distance and autonomous navigation of ships, which arouses a heated discussion among the experts at the meeting. Selected by the Committee of experts of the General Assembly, the paper was selected as the only best paper of the current session, (DNV GL COMPIT 2019 Award), fulfilling the zero breakthrough in the award for the representatives of China since the Conference was held in 2000 and receiving highly praises from the Professor Volker Bertram, President of the General Assembly.


  After the conference, representatives from many units such as the Netherlands Maritime Institute, Korean Register of Shipping and Class NK expressed the intention of further in-depth exchanges with the Center's relevant researchers to strengthen cooperation in intelligent ships.


  It is reported that this conference was hosted by the DNV Det Norske Veritas and the Germanischer Lloyd Group. There are around a hundred experts and scholars from famous universities participated in this conference. They are from the Technische Universiteit Delft of the Netherlands, the University of Michigan of the United States, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, the University College London of the United Kingdom, the University of Southampton of the United Kingdom, the University of Strathclyde, the TU Hamburg-Harburg of Germany and the Kyushu University of Japan, scientific institutions including the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands and Norwegian Marine Technology Research Institute, as well as the Classification Societies and maritime regulatory authorities of countries like the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, France, Japan and South Korea. Besides, those well-known companies such as Kongsberg Automotive, Rolls-Royce and Wasilia.
