An Exchange Meeting for Training Class in the US 2019 was held in WUT

  

  On the afternoon of May 31th, an exchange meeting for the training class in the US 2019 was held in Conference Center 104. Xin Sijin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Wuhan University of Technology(WUT), together with Zhao Jing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Shen Zuwu, Vice President of WUT and monitor of the training class, Wu Chaozhong, President Assistant and vice monitor of the training class, heads of relevant functional departments and all trainees of the training class attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Zhao Jing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of WUT.

  Shen Zuwu made a summary on behalf of the class. He noted that all participants were able to learn new knowledge, deepen understanding, broaden horizons and add fresh impetus with accessibility to training featured by diverse modes, rich and well-organized contents, and coverage of core themes of reform and development in higher education through systematic study and brainstorming. He also put forward suggestions and recommendations on the school reform and development and cadre training combined with the current situation and future goals of WUT.

  Then, centering on the three themes of scientific and technological innovation and innovation and entrepreneurship, talent training and teaching reform, university governance and discipline construction, Wu Chaozhong, Chen Caijun and Yan Fuwu of the class presented reports and experience exchanges.

  Xin Sijin, Party Secretary, highly praised the trainees for their learning and showed great appreciation of the summary of results in his speech. He pointed out that on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China, all students and cadres present at the meeting, standing at a new starting point, should first raise their position and strengthen their responsibility. Specifically, they should be prepared for dangers in times of peace and fully realize the responsibilities and missions shouldered by colleges and university cadres in the face of new opportunities and challenges. Second, it needs to apply what trainees have learned to the practical needs. On the one hand, trainees should equip their minds, guide their practice, and promote their work with knowledge. On the other hand, specific analysis of specific problems, adjustment to changing circumstances, and taking the essence of its dregs were also highly recommended. Third, trainees should bear in mind the concept of lifelong learning. Namely, they not only need to make learning a pursuit, a hobby, as well as a healthy way of life, but also need to think hard, be good at research, and learn from our teachers and students in practice, so as to constantly update knowledge, improve understanding, enhance working methods, and promote work efficiency. Finally, Xin Sijin expressed his hope that everyone could take this training as an opportunity to improve themselves and promote the high-quality development of various educational undertakings in WUT.

  Lastly, after making some requirements for the training report and the application and promotion of related results, Deputy Secretary Zhao Jing was engaged in deployment of the school cadre training for the next stage.

  It is reported that this training program lasts for 21 days, concentrated mainly in the San Francisco bay area and Los Angeles area of California. The training and field study have been conducted in 11 universities including the university of California, Berkeley, 2 social institutions including the Western Review College Committee and 4 enterprises including Intel. The program includes lectures, interaction, visits, seminars and self-study, with 20 special lectures being given, 3 discussions being held and 6 technical visits being made. The courses mainly include scientific research and achievement transformation, talents cultivation, faculty construction, social service, international exchange, innovation and entrepreneurship education, university governance, etc., covering the core themes of reform and development in the field of higher education.

  A temporary party branch was set up to carry out temporary branch activities every week, organize political study and current affairs study during the training process, which thus achieves the "three combination", namely the combination of business study and political study, combination of lectures and interaction, combination of regular study and extracurricular study.
