Biography: Professor Serji Amirkhanian is currently a professor at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. He serves as a road engineering consultant for the World Bank and several countries, as well as a visiting professor at institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and Tongji University. He previously held the positions of Distinguished Alumni Professor and the Mays Professor of Transportation at Clemson University, USA. His research focuses on asphalt rubber, recycled asphalt, nano-modified asphalt, and related areas. Over the past 30 years, he has obtained research funding exceeding $30 million from organizations including the U.S. National Science Foundation, the Federal Highway Administration, and the South Carolina Department of Transportation. His research work in asphalt rubber and recycling of waste pavement materials has significantly advanced the global reuse of waste rubber tires and reclaimed pavement materials, making outstanding contributions to the development of high-performance, low-environmental-impact pavement materials. Professor Amirkhanian has published over 300 academic papers with more than 15,000 citations. He is a member of many professional organizations, such as ASTM, TRB, ASCE, European Tyre Recycling Association (ETRA), and USA Rubber Pavements Association, and serves as an editorial board member of Adv. Civ. Eng. and a guest editor for Construction and Building Materials. In recent years, he has organized multiple international academic conferences, serving as chair or co-chair, and has delivered more than 250 special reports and conference presentations worldwide. He holds considerable international influence in the fields of advanced road materials and the recycling of waste pavement materials.
