On March 21th, an expert panel of seven people led by Academician Zhou Yu, vice President of Harbin Institute of Technology, began evaluation on the third phase construction of the 211 Project of WUT.

A meeting was convened in the 201 conference room in the morning of March 22nd with President Zhang Qingjie giving a speech entitled Promoting An Overall Scientific Development of WUT Led by 211 Project. After that, the inspection panel visited the sites of 11 key discipline construction projects, including fiber optic sensing technology and information processing, key technologies in green construction materials and energy efficiency in buildings, and key technologies in high performance ship design and manufacturing.

Having reviewed the summary materials of all construction projects and fully checked each project in the completion progress, fund distribution, equipment purchasing and project management, the expert panel reached consensus to approve the construction work of the third phase of the 211 Project of WUT.

They believe WUT has attached great importance to the construction work of the third phase of the 211 Project, with the counterpart funds tripling that of the state appropriations, fulfilling the construction mission with high quality, including key disciplines, faculty members, innovative talents cultivation and public service system, thus achieving the goal of the third phase of the 211 Project. Later, the expert panel advised WUT to carry forward the fine traditions of the 211 Project construction work, continue to highlight the university characteristics, emphasize the coordinated innovation and promote the comprehensive development of all work for the further development of WUT.
