Minister Counsellor of the French Embassy in China visited WUT

On April 9th, Mikaël Hautchamp, Minister Counselor of the French Embassyin China, visited Wuhan University of Technology. Xin Sijin, Chairman of the University Council, and the Minister Counsellor jointly attended the unveiling ceremony of the new location of Aix-Marseille College of Wuhan University of Technology (WUT-AMU Institute), marking its settlement into the building of School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Life Sciences. Vice president Wang Fazhou held a conversation with French representatives. Lu Renjun,the cultural and educational cooperation counsellor of the French Embassyin China, officials of the French Consulate General in Wuhan, and WUTs representatives of the International Exchange and Cooperation Center, the academic affairs office, the graduate school, the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Life Sciences, and WUT-AMU Institute, were all presented.

On behalf of WUT, Chairman Xin extended warm welcome to the delegation of Minister Counselor and congratulations to all the teachers and studentspresent. He also expressed sincere thanks to the French Embassy and the French Consulate General in Wuhan for their long-term concern and support for the development of WUT-AMU Institute. He suggested that all the teachers and students of Marseille college should bear in mind the fundamental task of fostering morality in talent cultivation and make joint efforts to promote the high-quality development of the college, to make contributions to the exchanges and cooperation of higher education between China and France.

Mikaël Hautchampsaid that WUT-AMU Institute was not only an education program but also one of the important achievements of higher education between the two countries. Therefore, he hoped that students of WUT-AMU Institute could not only learn professional knowledge well, but also become envoys of the friendship between China and France, and continue to promote cultural and scientific exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. As he claimed, he stood ready to promote communications between the two universities, and support the construction and development of WUT-AMU Institute.

After the ceremony, Chairman Xin accompanied Minister Counselor and his colleagues to visit teaching venues and facilities of WUT-AMU Institute, including the digital speech classroom and the intelligent classroom.

Representatives of International Exchange and Cooperation Center, academic affairs office, the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Life Sciences, and WUT-AMU Institute had a conversation with Minister Counsellor and his delegation in the conference room of WUT-AMU Institute. Vice president Wang Fazhou introduced the construction and development of WUT-AMU Institute, and expressed his wish for further support and assistance from the French Embassy in China and French Consulate General in Wuhan.

Minister CounsellorMikaël Hautchamp praised the institute as “a blooming beautiful flower” of Sino-French higher educational cooperation. He promised on behalf of the embassy that they will continue to promote communication and provide assistance to support the sustainable development of WUT-AMU Institute.

Sun Taolei, President of School of chemistry, chemical engineering and life sciences and executive president of WUT-AMU Institute, introduced the general development of the institute, and the two sides had a in-depth discussion on issues of common concern.
