From October 16th to 17th, the 2nd China Computer Federation (CCF) Integrated Circuit Design and Automation Conference was co-organized by CCF, CCF Integrated Circuit Design Professional group, and Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) in China Optics Valley Technology Exhibition Center, Wuhan city for two consecutive days.

Xia Jiangjing, the vice chairman of WUT council, delivered a warmly welcoming speech on behalf of the university to the experts and scholars on the spot and offered best wishes to this conference. Sun Ninghui, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), made the opening report entitled “Can processors be designed with object-oriented agility?”. Sun said that agile development would help sharply lower the development threshold of chip development, thus providing a vivid impetus to the upgrading and development of related industries. Liu Ming, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) introduced the importance of the open source EDA (electronic design automation) platform to domestic related talents cultivation and industry development. In addition to this, he made an announcement to found the openDACS open source EDA working team and launched the open source version of openDACS v1.0.


In the afternoon of October 16th, the 2nd East Lake Forum, the sub-forum of PCB EDA Technology, was held by Huawei Wuhan Research Center and WUT in the same place. Mr. Xia Jiangjing and Mr. Zhang Jichao, the director of Huawei Wuhan Research Center, attended the forum. Mr. Xia reviewed the mutual cooperation history and achievement between WUT and Huawei in the opening address and pointed out that China was bound to enhance the basic research of the EDA field, and strengthen the deep integration of academic community and enterprises, so as to jointly advance the development of China’s integrated circuit industry under the circumstances that new challenges and opportunities came together in this sector. Experts from noted universities and enterprises such as Tsinghua University, Wuhan University of Technology, Huawei, ICkey, etc. initiated an extensive and profound discussion on some problems about the PCB automatic wiring technique exploration, algorithm research and development and challenges posed to productive process to EDA Technology.

This conference composes of 5 conference reports, 8 team paper reports, and 12 parallel technical report forums. Over 500 specialists and scholars from prestigious universities and enterprises at home and abroad, such as Technical University of Munich, Purdue University, Belgium Microelectronics Research Center, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Wuhan University of Technology, Intel, NVIDIA Corporation, Huawei, Empyrean Technology, focused on the key issue of integrated circuit field and conducted a comprehensive and far-reaching discussion on EDA cutting-edge technology, chip design and security, intelligent computing system reliability, chip agile development, etc.
