The Pakistani ambassador to China visited WUT and held an online signing ceremony

On the afternoon of November 3rd, Xin Sijin, Secretary of WUT Party Committee, met with the Pakistani ambassador to China and his entourage at the conference center where the two sides held an online signing ceremony on cooperation of building research-oriented universities in Pakistan. Accompanied by Feng Xiguo, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hubei Provincial Party Committee, and other Chinese officials, Pakistani academician Atta-ur Rahman, who currently serves as Chairman of PrimeMinister Task Force on Science and Technology, visited WUT with other officals of the Pakistani Embassy in China, includingthe political counselor,the second secretary, and press officials. The conference was presided over by Wang Fazhou, Vice President of WUT. Heads of WUT’s International Exchange and Cooperation Office and relevant schoolsalso made their presence.

On behalf of WUT’s faculty, Mr.Xin expressed his warm welcome to the visit of Ambassador Moin ul Haque. He said that as China and Pakistan enjoyed an all-weather strategic partnership of cooperation, the cooperation on education wasa strong cornerstone under the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Earlier this April, Ambassador Moin ul Haque had already paid a visit to WUT. It was a full embodiment of trust towards Hubei and WUT that his second visit came in such short amount of time and also broughtin cooperation contracts. On theoccasion of the 70th anniversary of the China-Pakistan diplomatic relations, Mr.Xin said WUT would like to take this signing as an opportunity to promote the cooperation and joint construction of the new university between WUT and Pakistan, deepen the educational cooperation and exchanges between WUT and countries along the Belt and Road, and make contribution to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Ambassador Moin ul Haque said it was a great honor to visit WUT again at this special time. Heemphasized that Pakistani government hadalways attached great importance to cooperation on education and science and technology, hoping this signing couldserve as a starting point for the two countries’ educational cooperation.He siad that by establishing the ExcellenceCenterfor scientific research, a platform for Pakistan’s technological innovation and industrial development could be formed. The signing of a memorandum of cooperation with WUTwasof great significance as it wasalso one of the more than one hundred events for the 70th anniversary of the China-Pakistandiplomatic relations. At the end, he expressed his sincere wish for the longstanding friendship between China and Pakistan.

Academician Atta-ur Rahman spoke via a video link. He said he viewed himself as half of a Chinese after multiple visits to the country. Prof. Atta-ur Rahman also added how much he valued cooperation with China and believed that education wasan important cornerstone of Pakistan’s socio-economic development. He also paid tribute to WUT for its strong support to Pakistan, and believed that the artificial intelligence center established through cooperation would focus on new technologies and new fields, supporting the application of scientific and technological achievements and serving the social and economic development of the two countries. In the end, he invited Mr. Xin to visit Pakistan.
