Recently, the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) announced the enrollment of 104 new members, including 20 foreign experts. Professor Fu Zhengyi from WUT’s State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing has been elected as an academician of CAE.

Fu Zhengyi, Chair Professor of WUT’s Materials Science, is also the winner of The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, a foreign academician of Russian Academy of Engineering, an academician of the World Academy of Ceramics (WAC), a fellow of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS), and an honorary fellow of the European Ceramic Society (ECerS). He is the member of Experts Team of National Key R&D Program (Fundamental Materials) of China,  Science & Technology Committee of Ministry of Education, Outstanding Innovative Group of the National Natural Science Foundation, and an academic leader of Innovation Team in Defense-Related Science and Technology.

Professor Fu has conducted in-depth research on multifunctional ceramics and ceramic-based composites, structural/functional integrative composites, novel materials structure and system, in-situ reaction synthesis and preparation, ultra-fast sintering and processing and bioprocess-inspired fabrication. He has won 2 Second Prizes of the State Technological Innovation Award, 1 Third Prize of the State Science and Technology Advancement Award and 7 First Prizes of Ministerial and Provincial Science & Technology and Teaching Award. He has published more than 400 well-researched academic papers and obtained more than 90 granted invention patents. He is also the winner of 9 international awards and honors, including the ACerS John Jeppson Award, the ACerS Samuel Geijsbeek International Award, the ACerS Ross Coffin Purdy Award, IUMRS Award 2018 and Engineering Valour of the Russian Academy of Engineering, and 5 national talent awards, including National Innovation Pioneer Award and National Outstanding Scientific and Technical Professional.
