In the afternoon of September 15th, the opening ceremony for Convergent Media Center of Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) was held. Xin Sijin (Chairman of the University Council), Wang Qiankun (Vice Chairman of the University Council), and Liu Chunjiang (Vice President of WUT) attended the event. Li Mu (Dean of School of Law, Humanities and Sociology of WUT), former leaders and in-service staff of the publicity department, and representatives of student journalists of WUT Students News Agency participated this event. Wu Xianchao, Deputy Director of Publicity Department and Spokesman of WUT moderated this ceremony.
Xin Sijin and Wang Qiankun jointly unveiled the plaque for the center.
Liu Chunjiang, Vice President of WUT, pointed out in his address that as the important strategic project of WUT for beefing up the campus media convergence, the establishment of Convergent Media Center of WUT served as a milestone reached by WUT’s platform of publicity. And he wished that this new platform, taking the launch ceremony as it’s starting point, would strive and innovate for rendering itself into a powerhouse of public opinion, cultural construction, network education, the practical training of converged media, and the guidance of socialist core values. Furthermore, the center could gather WUT’s strength inwardly and displayed WUT’s profile outwardly to underpin the university’s high-quality development with excellent media work.
Wang Nengdong (Executive Deputy Director of Publicity Department of WUT) and Li Mu jointly unveiled the plaque for the Joint Talent Training Base.
After the unveiling ceremony, Xin Sijin with other heads of WUT inspected the construction and operation of the convergent media center and was briefed on relevant work.
It’s reported that the university has taken more efforts on integrated planning and adjusted the internal structure. After a year of construction, Convergent Media Center of WUT formally opened. And WUT’s converged media pattern took shape, featuring five main communication channels, namely, newspaper, website, application, new-media platform, and screen. Consequently, WUT took a firmer step in terms of adapting new propagation trends, enhancing the construction of the university’s publicity team, fortifying the position of mainstream consensus, laying a solid foundation for the publicity work, and improving the quality of the university’s propaganda work.
