On 28th September, the Sino-Norwegian seminar on "Advancing Towards Green" in hydrogen energy was held at WUT, jointly initiated by the People's Government of Hubei Province and the Vestfold and Telemark Provincial Government of Norway. The seminar aimed to start an online exchange on technology and industry development of hydrogen energy. Representatives of government agencies, universities and enterprises from both sides were invited to the conference. Wang Fazhou, Vice President of WUT, attended the meeting.
In his opening speech, vice president Wang Fazhou said that WUT started hydrogen energy research early and had made a series of achievements so far. In the following phases, the university would project its hydrogen research work scientifically in accordance with the national medium and long-term energy development master plan for hydrogen energy, focus on realizing the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, and actively participate in the planning and construction of the "hydrogen city" of Wuhan. WUT was looking forward to enhancing bilateral exchange and practical cooperation with relevant Norwegian universities, research institutes and enterprises on hydrogen energy R&D and utilization.
Mr. Johnson, Governor of Vestfold and Telemark, Norway, said that since 2006, two provinces of Norway and Hubei Province of China had established a positive cooperation relationship and achieved fruitful results. The two sides had maintained close working communication against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting was a concrete step to overcome the pandemic barrier and carry out practical exchanges between the two sides. It was hoped that the seminar would promote the in-depth cooperation and common development of bilateral universities and enterprises in the hydrogen energy industry.
On the conference, Professor Pan Mu gave a keynote speech on the research and achievements of hydrogen energy in WUT. Chief Engineer Liu Kai from Management Committee of Wuhan Qingshan Economic Development Zone gave a presentation on the construction planning and positive outcomes of the "hydrogen city" in Qingshan, Wuhan. Arne Nicander, Project Manager of Telemark Energy Norway, and Professor Knut Vågsæther from Southeastern University of Norway made reports on the development of the hydrogen energy industry, as well as the achievements and directions of hydrogen energy research and development respectively.
It was a consensus among all participants that Sino-Norwegian cooperation in hydrogen energy had a profound foundation and a promising future. Strengthening bilateral exchanges in this field would definitely produce win-win cooperation results.
