President Yang Zongkai of WUT met with Jean-Yves ROUX, the Consul General of France in Wuhan

On November 10th, Yang Zongkai, President of WUT, met with Jean-Yves ROUX, the Consul General of France in Wuhan, as well as his delegation. Both sides exchanged ideas on Sino-French cooperation in science and education. Vice President Wang Fazhou of WUT, Maxime FERAILLE, the science and education attaché of the Consulate General of France in Wuhan, as well as heads from related units of WUT, including the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Life Sciences and Institute of WUT-AMU, all attended the meeting.

Yang Zongkai first expressed earnest gratitude to Jean-Yves ROUX for his visit to Wuhan University of Technology upon taking charge of the Consulate General. He reviewed the cooperation between WUT and French universities and scientific research institutions in terms of talent cultivation, joint scientific research and humanitarian communication, introduced WUT’s dominant disciplines and the latest progress in the digital transformation of education. He said that WUT was willing to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with French universities and research institutions. Based on the dominant disciplines of WUT and taking information technology application and internationalization as the starting point, the both sides would explore a new model of digital education at Insititute of WUT-AMU in pursuit of concrete achievements of bilateral cooperation.

Jean-Yves ROUX expressed his heartfelt thanks to WUT for the warm reception. He said that WUT was the first Chinese university he had visited since he took office. He also mentioned that WUT had a deep foundation for cooperation with French universities in education and science. Moreover, he said that he would endeavor to build a bridge for Chinese universities, including WUT, to exchange and cooperate with France. He also expected continued close cooperation between French and Chinese universities in building dominant disciplines, and hoped that Sino-French educational exchanges and cooperation would continue to deepen.

After the meeting, Wang Fazhou accompanied the delegation of the Consulate General to Insititute of WUT-AMU to attend the opening ceremony of the "First Cultural Festival & the Ninth French-Chinese Month of the Environment" and visited the relevant teaching facilities of the school.
