From February 13th to 14th, the World Digital Education Conference, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Education and the National Commission of China for UNESCO, was successfully held in Beijing. The conference, revolving around the theme of "Digital Transformation and the Future of Education", focuses on the exploration of digital transformation in education, the development and application of digital learning resources, the enhancement of digital literacy for both teachers and students, the digital governance of education as well as the evaluation of digital development in basic education, vocational education, and higher education. During the Parallel Session on Higher Education held on February 14th, President Yang Zongkai of WUT was invited to deliver a keynote speech titled "Digitalized Transformation Drives University Innovation".

During his speech, President Yang Zongkai emphasized the essential role of higher education in nurturing talents, and underscored the importance of digital higher education as a critical strategy for the development of the digital economy. Moreover, he stressed that educational digitalization was an inevitable trend in educational reform. At the same time, President Yang elaborated on the exploration and practice of WUT in digital transformation, with a particular focus on the comprehensive application of cutting-edge information technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and metaverse. He emphasized that these technologies would play a pivotal role in training urgently needed digital talents for the "three major industries", namely building and construction materials, transportation, and automobile industries.

Vice Presidents Wang Fazhou and Luo Rong attended the World Digital Education Conference Parallel Session on Higher Education in Beijing. Meanwhile, Deputy Party Secretary Meng Fangbing, along with Vice Presidents Liu Chunjiang and Wang Shijie as well as heads of various units of WUT such as the Party and Administration Office, Student Affairs Office, Planning and Discipline Office, Undergraduate School, Graduate School, Human Resources Office, International Office and Information Office, jointly participated in the forum online.
