Xiong Shiqi won two gold medals in the 20th Asian U20 Athletics Championships

From June 4th to 7th, the 20th Asian U20 Athletics Championships were held in Yecheon, South Korea. Xiong Shiqi, a student of Class 2022 from School of Management, won her second gold medal together with her teammates with 45.05 seconds in the women’s 4 x100m relay final on the evening of the 6th. Previously, she had won a gold medal in women’s 100 m.

The long jump is Xiong Shiqi’s main event. During this championship, Xiong competed in the women’s 100 m which was not her focus in daily training and was selected into the women’s 4 x 100m relay team. Xiong made her debut in the Asian competition with 11.50 seconds in the heat of women’s 100 m. In the final on the evening of the 5th, she performed well and won the gold medal with 11.615 seconds. After that, Xiong continued her impressive form and won another gold medal in the 4×100 m relay with her teammates.

During this season, the WUT track team achieved a lot in major events at home and abroad, such as the National Indoor Athletics Invitational Competition in Jinan and the National Indoor Athletics Championships, showing the tenacious spirits of students of WUT. In the incoming competitions, hope the athletes would make continuous efforts to win glory for the country.
