Recently, the first undergraduate graduation and degree conferral ceremony of the Institute of Wuhan University of Technology (WUT)-Aix-Marseille University (AMU) was held in the South Lake Campus in WUT, with Vice-President Luo Rong, heads of relevant functional departments and leaders of the school present. The delegation members of Aix-Marseille University, including Rosalind Boniface, Head of the International Relationships Department, Valéry Matarazzo, Head of the Faculty of Science, Jean-Pierre Duneau, Head of the Department of Undergraduate Affairs, and Soraya Mezouar, Head of the Department of Graduate Affairs, and members of the Consulate General of France in Wuhan, including Jean Yves Roux, the Consul General and Maxime FERAILLE, the science and education attaché, were invited to attend the ceremony. The graduates of the class of 2023 and their relatives and friends attend the ceremony on site.
Luo Rong pointed out that thesmooth operation and successful cultivation of the first class of undergraduates of the Institute of WUT-AMU, the only Franco-Chinese Institute in Hubei Province that covers undergraduate’s and master’s degree education, depended greatly on the care and support from the two governments, the former and present leaders of the two universities, the Consulate General of France in Wuhan, and related parties. On behalf of WUT, Vice President Luo Rong sent to all the undergraduates of the Institute of WUT-AMU her warmest congratulations and best wishes. She appreciated the genuine cooperation and continuous hard work of Franco-Chinese teaching and managing faculty and staff.
Luo Rong set great hope in all the undergraduates that they should keep an open mind, harness their strengths in languages, draw nourishment from different civilizations, promote traditional Chinese culture by telling Chinese stories and contributing China’s wisdom and solutions, and dedicate their wisdom and strength in building a diverse living world by linking up personal destiny and the human community with a shared future.
Mr. Jean Yves Roux, expressed his pleasure to mark the moment of the graduation ceremony with all the guests and offered his congratulations. He indicated that the Sino-French cooperation contributed to the students’ extraordinary professional qualities in the field of biology and distinctive mode of thinking and scientific research capability. He also placed hope in undergraduates of the class of 2023 that they cherish their passion for biology and make achievements in the further.
Rosalind Boniface expressed her cordial greetings and best wishes to all the undergraduates on behalf of Berton, President of AMU, and all the faculties, students, and staff members. Despite remote teaching for some courses, students efficiently achieved learning goals predetermined by both universities, which laid a solid foundation for developing Sino-France cooperation in running schools.
Valéry Matarazzo offered sincere congratulations to the undergraduates and graduates on behalf of teachers from both sides. He welcomed more students going to AMU for further studies to enrich scientific knowledge and improve the capacity for science research.
Zhang Chengcai, the Executive Dean of WUT, announced the Franco-Chinese bachelor’s degree conferral list on behalf of the institute.
Wang Jinxin, the Undergraduate Representative, shared her experience at WUT-AMU and expressed her appreciation for WUT and teachers from both universities. She also promised to serve society with all she had learned and grow into a student of the new era with an international perspective.
Leaders of both universities awarded honorary certificates to outstanding undergraduates.
