On September 12th, in the river city Wuhan, 6,862 new WUT graduate students, with dreams for the future and pursuit of the unknown possibilities, gathered at Wuhan University of Technology. They would embark on a new journey and open a new chapter of their lives.

To ensure the smooth progress of enrollment, improve the experience of the new graduate students, and help them adapt to school life as soon as possible, WUT carried out a careful deployment of the overall arrangements in advance. Atotal of10 service points and 12 interactive photo spots were set up throughout every corner of the campus. And 36 buses worked in turns to the railway stations to pick up the new graduate students. In total, more than 800 staff and 1,400 volunteers engaged in the busy orientation work. WUT wascommitted to “meeting students’ needs, winning parents’ trust, maintaining orderly enrollment, and gaining social recognition”. In line with this philosophy, the university ensured safety, order, efficiency, convenience, and care in every aspect of the welcoming work.

Nice to meet you

Xin Sijin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, Zhao Jing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, Luo Rong, Vice President, and other school leadership and headsof relevant departments went to the welcoming sites to inspect and guide the enrollment work, kindly greeted the new graduate students and their parents, as well as teachers and students involved in the welcoming work. It was the first time that WUT had used a variety of intelligent means to help more than six thousand new graduate students to check in. On the Registration Cockpit display screen, real-time updates about the registration process were displayed in detail, keeping the school leadership and staff informed of the number of new graduate students that checked in and relevant detailed information to optimize resource allocation and coordinate scheduling. In doing so, WUT aimed to make enrollment more convenient, make new graduate students feel more secure, and improve their satisfaction with the information service.

Glad to know you

As part of the new graduate student orientation, WUT had planned a series of activities themed with harmonious tutor-student relationships. The first activity was a photo spot where I met with my tutor and WUT for the first time. Today on each campus, the school’s iconic photo spots welcomed new graduate students warmly. Their new journey startedwhenthe camera clicked, recording their first look at WUT. Each photo had an extraordinary significance, representing the beginning of the bond between teachers and students. Each school carried out warmhearted interactive activities between tutors and students in a variety of forms that combined the characteristics of the school.

Shen Lei (Tutor of the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Life Science)said,A new stage means a new beginning. I hope you can explore the unknown, chase your dreams, work hard, and make your dreams come true. During your school years, pursue what you love and forge a brilliant future.

Yang Cheng (Tutor of the School of Foreign Languages)said,Every fall, a group of students step onto the campus with expectations and dreams. The school years are the most beautiful and carefree, so I hope students can cherish the time, enrich themselves with knowledge, and realize their ideals and pursuits.

He Linxuan ( 2023 Ph.D. of the School of Information Engineering)said,A new beginning means a new journey. I will make unremitting efforts to realize my academic dreams and contribute to the scientific and technological progress of my country.

Liu Wenxu (2023 graduate freshman of the School of Resource and Environmental Engineering), As a new graduate student, I was warmed by the help of volunteers and various convenient orientation services right after I arrived at the school, and I am looking forward to my next academic life!

Jiang Zhiwei (New graduate student, Class of 2023, School of Computer Science and Technology),The most impressive thing is that although the name of the university carries the word “technology”, it embodies a very warm sentiment everywhere. There are volunteers in the dormitory area and the check-in points. The university even prepared disposable raincoats for us because of the bad weather.

Zhou Sujuan (New graduate student, Class of 2023, School of Civil Engineering and Architecture) Parentsaid,Seeing my child go to the excellent Wuhan University of Technology, it's like I have realized my dream too.

Gu Ruida (New graduate student, Class of 2023, School of Entrepreneurship) Parentsaid,The back of the child stepping into the campus is happy and firm, and we look forward to this new journey and new dreams together!

Glad to be with you

The cool fall breeze refreshed Wuhan University of Technology. At 5:00 a.m., the enthusiasm of the volunteers in welcoming the new graduate students didn’t retreat against the cool morning breeze. Volunteers and graduates set off to Wuchang Railway Station, Hankou Railway Station, and Wuhan Railway Station respectively, keeping new graduate students company with full warmth.

Volunteers could be seen everywhere on campus, carrying luggage for new graduate students, answering questions and guiding them to check in, and wholeheartedly bringing a “meticulous” enrollment experience to every new student.

With the arrival of the new graduate students, logistics support staff of the school security, canteen, dormitories, and other relevant departments actively played their roles and silently supported new graduate students by maintaining campus order and landscaping the campus environmentto assist the new graduate students to check in smoothly and move into their “new home”.
