The delegation of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David visited WUT

On February 28th, President Yang Zongkai of Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) met with the Vice President of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David(UWTSD), Peter Mannion, and Vice President Zhu Wei. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the theme of cooperation between the two universities. The symposium was chaired by Vice President Luo Rongof WUT.

President Yang Zongkai warmly welcomed the visit of the delegation led by Mr. Mannion, reviewing the nearly 20 years of collaboration and achievements. He emphasized that the two universities were significant strategic partners, with the undergraduate programs in Art and Design and Vehicle Engineering in good development and of high quality. He expressed anticipation for further cooperation and renewal of the agreement on collaborative projects under the leadership of the new president of UWTSD. President Yang proposed the establishment of a joint management committee for collaborative projects to ensure their orderly operation and sustainable development. He also suggested exploring new collaborative projects leveraging the three major industry characteristics of WUT, with a shared commitment to cultivating outstanding talents in the era of artificial intelligence and green economy. President Yang invited the excellent faculty of UWTSD to visit WUT, hoping to provide more opportunities for cooperation and exchanges between the faculties and students of the two universities. Additionally, he extended an invitation to the president of UWTSD to attend the graduation ceremony for the collaborative programs. Vice President Luo Rong hoped that the two sides could deepen cooperation, and promote the implementation and refinement of various cooperation initiatives, laying a new foundation for the next 20 years of collaboration.

Mannion expressed gratitude for the warm reception from WUT, stating that UWTSD had always cherished its collaboration with WUT. Over nearly 20 years of cooperative development, a deep friendship had been established, and together they had cultivated a large number of excellent students. Mannion hoped, with the support of WUT, to continue leveraging the advantages of existing projects and exploring new collaboration. He fully agreed with President Yang Zongkai's philosophy and looked forward to new developments in collaborative education, faculty exchanges, and talent cultivation between the two universities. Mannion conveyed the thanks and the invitation from President Yang Zongkai to the president of UWTSD.

The two sides reached a consensus on collaborative projects, overseas study and training programs, co-building teaching centers, and faculty and student training and exchanges.

During the visit, the delegation met with students participating in collaborative projects, toured educational facilities, student communities, and the WUT art gallery. Representatives from the International Office, School of Automotive Engineering, School of Art and Design, and School of International Education jointly attended the symposium.
