WUT successfully carried out on-site evaluation of BGA international certification

Recently, the Business Graduate Associate (BGA) expert group, one of the three major certifications of the International Business School, paid a 2-day site visit and evaluation at WUT. The accreditation panel was composed of Professor Philip McLaughlin from KEDGE Business School, Professor Wang Zhongming, international consultant of AMBA & BGA, China, Ellen Touchstone from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, and Joseph Pilkington, certification manager of BGA.

WUT’s president Yang Zongkai, vice president Luo Rong, directors of Graduate School, Undergraduate School, International Office, and School of Management, the director of MBA Education Center, the head of accounting major (undergraduate), and representatives of teachers, students, alumni and employers witnessed and participated in the inspection and evaluation process of the certification. Based on the BGA international certification standards, the panel inspected and assessed both the training methods and quality of WUT’s MBA education comprehensively.

The expert group had a discussion with president Yang Zongkai, vice president Luo Rong and heads of relevant functional departments. President Yang expressed his gratitude to BGA for its long-term concern and support for the development of WUT’s MBA education. Then, they exchanged views on the overall situation of WUT, school-running characteristics, development ideas and strategies.

According to the certification report and materials, the expert group reviewed the materials of the MBA education and accounting undergraduate majors in WUT concerning education and teaching, training plans, curriculum construction, internship practice, alumni services. They inspected the MBA classrooms, laboratories, and other facilities of the School of Management. After that, they held discussions with representatives of employers and alumni, and listened to the opinions on the quality of WUT’s MBA education and undergraduate accounting talents cultivation. They also listened to the special report of the School of Management, as well as the evaluation and opinions of various parties on the school.

After the inspection, the expert group highly acclaimed WUT’s support for MBA education and its responsible management in education and internationalization at the feedback meeting. They also put forward constructive suggestions on WUT’s sustainable development and advancement. The panel would submit the accreditation report of WUT to the BGA as required, whose expert committee would eventually confirm the results.

The Business Graduates Association (BGA) was officially established in 2019. Upgraded comprehensively on the basis of AMBA certification, it is an international certification for business schools as a whole. The BGA certification includes assessments in five aspects: the school, faculty, students, programs and impacts. In addition, it measures the changes of a school’s influence through a continuous impact model, which focuses on six aspects: intent, graduate achievement, value creation, society, ecosystem, and scholarship, so as to continually promote the advancement of the school.
