From June 29 to 30, the Forum and Exhibition on High Quality Development of Sino-French Cooperative Education was held at Beihang University. The event celebrated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, and aimed to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and to carry forward the spirit of the first Sino-French Education Development Forum. Wang Fazhou, the Vice President of WUT, attended the event on behalf of the university.
The forum featured a round-table dialogue on the theme of “How Artificial Intelligence Influences Engineering Education and Digital Governance of Artificial Intelligence.” Wang Fazhou congratulated the achievements of nearly 20 years of Sino-French educational exchanges and cooperation on behalf of the university. He stated that addressing the challenges posed by artificial intelligence and reconstructing the university education system were major tasks in the current higher education reform. Wuhan University of Technology aimed to become a benchmark institution of digital transformation, leveraging its global influence in the three major industries of materials, transportation, and automotive. The university was advancing its education digitization strategy in depth, continuously exploring and actively practicing the integration of science, education, and industry with leading enterprises to create an open university tailored to modern industry talent needs. He believed that universities should fully draw on the pioneering experiences of large enterprises in AI-driven industry transformation, closely monitor the impact of artificial intelligence on the cultivation of talents in basic and interdisciplinary sciences such as mathematics and physics, and scientific research paradigms. Furthermore, universities should actively explore the integration of science and education, the integration of enterprises with universities, and international collaboration to promote the reform and innovation of higher education systems in China and globally.
At the Dean’s Forum, the head of the Institute of WTU-AMU shared experiences, aligning with the national education digitization strategy and the university’s goal of becoming a benchmark institution for digital transformation. Additionally, comprehensive frameworks for all-round education and the ‘three integrations’ in French language education and teaching were discussed. These digital and intelligent empowerment measures were shared and exchanged with partner institutions engaged in Sino-foreign cooperative education.
During the forum, more than 20 Sino-French cooperative educational institutions and project organizations from across the country held an exhibition at the Chenxin Music Hall Plaza of Beihang University. The exhibition, themed “Upholding Original Aspirations, Continuing Sino-French Friendship, and Collaborating in Education for a Better Future,” showcased the achievements and compiled a collection of these accomplishments. WUT’s booth highlighted the outcomes of educational efforts through various aspects such as the history of the university, the strengths of faculties, unique training programs, and notable achievements.
