On October 24, WUT’s 4th Graduate Student and Faculty Sports Meeting kicked off at the Nanhu campus, with Vice President Wang Fazhou attending the opening ceremony.
In his speech, Wang Fazhou expressed that this event served as a platform for graduate students and mentors to engage and showcase their talents. It aimed to promote the “five-in-one” education philosophy, enrich the “all-round education” framework, and foster a harmonious mentoring environment. He encouraged everyone to carry the spirit of perseverance from the Sports Meet into their daily studies and life—facing challenges boldly, striving for excellence, and contributing to the advancement of the nation’s strategic science and technology development.
On behalf of the referees, Professor Xiong Mina from the School of Physical Education announced the competition regulations. Graduate advisor Li Junsheng from the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Life Sciences (Aix-Marseille University) and graduate student Yue Wanting jointly presented an initiative to foster a harmonious mentor-student relationship.
Before the competition began, the University Student Arts Association Dance Troupe performed the opening dance, Flowing Water and Peach Blossoms. All participating faculty and students then engaged in a warm-up session.
The 4th Graduate Student and Faculty Sports Meet was organized by the University Sports Committee and hosted by the Graduate School, Graduate Student Affairs Office, University Youth League Committee, Faculty Affairs Office, School of Physical Education, and School of Resources and Environmental Engineering. The event featured seven fun competitions, drawing enthusiastic participation from over a thousand faculty members and students. The atmosphere was vibrant, with participants eagerly preparing, cheering each other on, and showcasing strong athletic spirit and sportsmanship.
According to the competition guidelines, the teams from the Schools of Mechatronics Engineering, Management, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Life Sciences, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Resources and Environmental Engineering, Navigation, Automation, and Civil Engineering and Architecture secured the top eight places in the 2024 Graduate Student and Faculty Sports Meeting group competition.
Leaders from the University Youth League Committee, Faculty Affairs Office, Graduate School, Graduate Student Affairs Office, and School of Physical Education, along with heads of graduate training units and participating faculty and students, attended the event.
