From November 13th to 14th, the 2024 Building Materials Industry Conference (BMIC) was hold in Beijing, China. The Secretary of the CPC WUT Committee, Xin Sijin, Academician of China Academy of Engineering (CAE), Jiang Deshen, Vice-President of the WUT, Wang Fazhou attended the Conference.

During the Conference, Xin Sijin attended the Presidential Conference of China Building Materials Federation (CBMF).

Several breakthrough technologies and new products were unveiled in the building materials industry, including those labelled as ‘The Latest Breaking Through’ and ‘The World First Innovations’. The Carbon-mineralized Multifunctional Inorganic Coating Materials, developed by Prof. Wang Fazhou and his research team, was recognized as ‘The World’s First Innovation’ and unveiled before the public, alongside five other groundbreaking technologies and new products that captured industry attention.

A new initiative, the Public Lecture Series on Building Materials Technology, was introduced as part of the Building Materials Technology Innovation Conference during 2024 BMIC. Jiang Deshen, Chief Expert of the CBMF Expert Committee, delivered a lecture titled ‘The Smart Concrete Materials based on the Massive Optical Fiber Sensing Networks and its Application’, sharing insights on cutting-edge technologies..

At the Conference, WUT received the 2023 Building Materials Science and Technology Award for eight projects, including four Second Prizes in Fundamental Research, one First Prize for Technology Invitation, one First Prize and one Second Prize for Technology Innovation, and one Third Prize.

The 2024 BMIC aimed to explore new trends in the building materials industry, promote sustainable development, and accelerate the modernization of the sector with high-quality innovations.
