On the morning of December 26, the 9th International Forum for Young Scholars Overseas Program of WUT commenced.
Meng Fangbing, Deputy Secretary of the WUT Party Committee, along with heads of some teaching and research units, functional departments, and representatives of young teachers, attended the opening ceremony of the forum. Over 1800 young scholars from home and abroad participated in the forum through online or offline ways.
Meng Fangbing showcased the broad prospects and opportunities of the university, emphasizing the Party and the state's high regard for talent work, the platform advantages and development situation of WUT, and its talent-strengthening strategy. On behalf of the university, he expressed a strong commitment to attracting talented individuals and sincerely invited young talents from home and abroad to join WUT to embark on a new journey and write a new chapter together.
The head of the Personnel Department outlined key talent initiatives, including the "Fourteen Articles," the third phase of the "15551 Excellent Talent Project," and specialized policies for the "recruitment, development, retention, and utilization" of high-level professionals and technical positions, demonstrating WUT's broad development platform and superior talent policies.
Ji Wei, Deputy Director of the Institute of New Materials (State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology For Materials Synthesis and Processing), Yuan Chengqing, Dean of the School of Transportation and Logistics Engineering, and Wu Chaoqun, Dean of the School of Mechatronics Engineering, respectively, provided detailed introductions to the academic construction, talent teams, scientific research, and social services of their respective units. Zhang Pengchao, a researcher from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Zhang Zeyu, a special researcher from the School of Transportation and Logistics Engineering, and Jia Feifei, a special researcher from the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, three national-level young talents, shared their experiences on why they chose Wuhan University of Technology, how they became talents of the university, and how to achieve an outstanding life.
On the afternoon of December 26, various teaching and research units organized a variety of sub-forums with rich content. Young scholars and faculty engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions on related research fields.
The 9th International Forum for Young Scholars Overseas Program enhanced overseas young scholars’ understanding of WUT, attracted a large number of outstanding young scholars to the university to make contributions, injected strong momentum into WUT’s talent-strengthening strategy and high-quality talent development, and further paving the way for new achievements in WUT’s talent initiatives.
