On April 15, Vice President Wang Fazhou met with Dr. Simon Foster, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of the University of Essex, during his visit to Wuhan University of Technology (WUT).
Vice President Wang extended a warm welcome to Dr. Foster and his delegation, offering a brief overview of the university and a review of the long-standing partnership between the two institutions. He expressed sincere appreciation for the University of Essex’s continuous support of the Sino-UK Higher Education Diploma Program, particularly in providing valuable opportunities for students to further their studies in the UK. Looking ahead, he expressed the hope for deepened cooperation, particularly by leveraging Essex’s strengths in economics, linguistics, and philosophy, and by jointly developing pragmatic platforms such as academic conferences and faculty exchange programs.
Dr. Foster expressed his appreciation for WUT’s warm hospitality and congratulated WUT on its remarkable achievements. He reaffirmed the University of Essex’s commitment to partnerships with Chinese universities and expressed support for advancing concrete collaborative initiatives. He looked forward to enhancing student mobility, faculty exchanges, and joint research efforts across a broader spectrum of disciplines.
During the meeting, the two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on potential joint programs and modes of cooperation. Following the discussions, Dr. Foster visited the student community on the Nanhu Campus, where he interacted with students enrolled in the SQA Program under the School of International Education.
