On May 15, the CCTV Morning News reported President Yang Zongkais view of educational digitalizationduring the 2025 World Digital Education Conference (WDEC).

As the Director of the Consultation Committee for Education Digitalization of the Ministry of Education, President Yang remarked that the future of education would be profoundly shaped by the new generation of technologies, particularly the deep integration of artificial intelligence into education. “We are witnessing significant changes in the form and methodology of education. It is becoming increasingly competency-oriented. In the intelligent era, the key lies in the synergy between humans and machines to foster more advanced forms of education,” he said.

Themed on “Educational Development and Transformation: The Era of Intelligence”, the 2025 WDEC opened on May 14 in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The three-day conference brought together policymakers from global education sectors, representatives from international organizations, teachers and students from schools and universities, technology companies, and academic experts. The event aimed to explore the future of digital education in response to the United Nations’ Global Education Transformation Initiative.

The conference featured four major segments: an opening ceremony, a plenary session, ten parallel sessions, and a closing ceremony. The parallel sessions covered a wide range of topics across the entire education spectrum, including basic education, vocational education, higher education, lifelong learning, teacher development, and international cooperation on AI in education. WUT hosted one of the sessions titled “AI for STEM Education.”
