On the morning of July 1st, the 2025 International Student Academic Symposium of “Experiencing China-Intelligence Makes the Future”, sponsored by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), and hosted by WUT and Huawei Technology Co., Ltd., commenced at the Academic Lecture Hall in Nanhu Campus Library. This event focused on cutting-edge fields of smart transportation and AI, attracting over 80 outstanding students from 9 universities across 36 countries. Vice President Wang Fazhou of WUT, Vice President Wang Shijie of Xinjiang Normal University, and Mr. Xie Tianci, General Manager of Huawei’s Hubei Education Sector, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
Wang Fazhou emphasized in his speech that this event is an important initiative launched by the CSC, aiming to provide an innovative platform for international youth to experience China's technological and cultural development and explore the academic frontiers. He reviewed the fruitful outcomes of the university's deep collaboration with Huawei in areas including the “Intelligent Base” industry-education integration and the talent cultivation at Huawei ICT Academy. He pointed out that focusing on the interdisciplinary cooperation of intelligent transportation and AI not only aligns with global technological trends but also helps leverage WUT’s disciplinary strengths in smart transportation, AI, new materials, and new energy. This interdisciplinary focus fosters a dynamic synergy among scientific research, industrial application, and international student development.
Wang Shijie highlighted the significance of this event in advancing ICT talent cultivation. He introduced the global cooperation footprint of Xinjiang Normal University, highlighting its recent participation in 8 international platforms, the signing of 11 agreements related to the Belt and Road Initiative, and the training of nearly 1,000 international students from 28 countries, along with 16 national awards. He encouraged the participants to gain a deeper understanding of China’s technological advancement, experience the rich culture of Wuhan, and build bridges of friendship, aspiring to become globally competent talents.
Mr. Xie Tianci, from an industry perspective, elaborated on Huawei's practical plans for cultivating future global technology leaders based on university-enterprise collaboration.
During the keynote session, three experts and scholars shared insights into breakthroughs in cutting-edge technologies. Six student representatives delivered academic presentations on topics including AI algorithms and the application of big data in transportation.
The 2025 International Student Academic Symposium not only provided a platform for in-depth discussions on advanced technologies but also opened a window for multicultural exchange. The vibrant engagement of international students demonstrated in their exploration of AI and their immersive experience of Wuhan’s local culture vividly demonstrated the educational value of university-enterprise collaboration and international engagement.
Representatives from WUT’s Department of Student Affairs, Department of Graduate Affairs, International Office, and School of International Education attended the event.
