To thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on education, actively promote the spirit of educators, foster a strong social atmosphere of respecting teachers and valuing education, and widely consolidate efforts to accelerate the modernization of education and build a strongeducation system, the Publicity Department of CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of Education, on the occasion of the 41st Teachers’ Day, jointly announced the 2025 National “Most Beautiful Teachers”. The list recognizes 24 individuals and one team for their contributions. Professor Jiang Desheng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and director of the State Key Laboratory of Fiber Optic Sensing and Network Technology at WUT, was honored with this title. He was the only honoree from Hubei Province.

Jiang Desheng, male, Han ethnicity, born in March 1949, is a member of the Communist Party of China, a CAEmember, and a professor at Wuhan University of Technology. Over his 50-year career in teaching and research, he has led his team to focus on major national strategic needs. He and his team developed China’s first fiber optic sensor, pioneered grating array sensing network technology, and establisheda complete set of production technologies and equipment with independent intellectual property rights. His work has been instrumental in propelling China’s fiber optic sensing technology from a position of “catching up” to “leading” on the global stage, and his team has silently safeguardednumerous critical national megaprojects and infrastructures. He integrates research achievements into classrooms and textbooks and leads by example, teaching students to “write their papers on the land of their motherland”. He channels proceeds from technology transfers to support team and platform development, fostering interdisciplinary integration and nurturing a large number of industry leaders. Each year, he provides science education to nearly ten thousand primary, secondary, and university students, planting the seeds of scientific spirit and innovation. He has been honored with titles such as National Advanced Worker and National Outstanding Teacher, and has received five National Science and Technology Awards.

The special program for the 2025 “Most Beautiful Teachers” award ceremony is scheduled to be aired in the near future on China Media Group.
