Recently, the 16th International Ceramics Congress was held at Perugia, Italy. Professor Fu Zhengyi from the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing, Wuhan University of Technology (WUT), was invited to attend the event and deliver a plenary lecture.

During the concurrent World Academy of Ceramics (WAC, headquartered in Italy) Executive Committee meeting, Prof. Fu was elected Chair of the Executive Committee. Earlier in early June this year, he was also elected President of the International Ceramic Federation, headquartered in the United States.

During the plenary lecture session, Fu delivered a presentation entitled Extreme Condition Sintering for Ceramics. Aiming at key challenges including performance improvement and high energy consumption in ceramic processing, he put forward new strategies for extreme sintering technology and presented the latest research outcomes of his team, offering innovative ideas for the technological upgrading of advanced ceramic manufacturing worldwide.

The International Ceramics Congress is co-hosted by the World Academy of Ceramics, the International Ceramic Federation and the International Union of Materials Research Societies. This event brings together leading global scientists in ceramics, physics, chemistry and experts in high-tech industries. The program covers research areas ranging from molecular and nanoscale studies to large-scale complex integrated systems, and stands as a long-established prestigious academic event in the international ceramic materials community.
