The Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China, together with related research institutions, officially released the 2025 list of the world’s leading sci-tech journals at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Pujiang Innovation Forum. WUT’s Interdisciplinary Materials was successfully selected for the list.

Based on the world science citation database and an evaluation index system for world‑class sci‑tech journals, the 2025 list establishes an evaluation framework centered on academic organization, academic leadership, academic impact, and social impact, with nine evaluation indicators, delivering fair and impartial evaluation criteria for sci‑tech journals of different countries and languages. This year’s list covers 6,132 sci‑tech journals in 23 languages from 55 countries and regions. It includes 353 Chinese journals.

Interdisciplinary Materials (ISSN: 2767‑441X; CN: 42‑1945/TB) is a high‑level open‑access academic journal co‑founded by WUT and Wiley. Its Editors‑in‑Chief are Academician Zhang Qingjie and Academician Fu Zhengyi. Its editorial board includes 33 distinguished international scholars and 46 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. As the world’s first high‑level journal initiated for cutting‑edge interdisciplinary materials research, Interdisciplinary Materials aims to publish the latest achievements in interdisciplinary research between materials science and other disciplines, including physics, chemistry, mathematics, mechanics, biology, energy, environment, and information. The journal has been included in the High‑Starting‑Point New Journal Project of China Scientific, Technical and Medical (STM) Journal Excellence Action Plan, 2025 China’s Most Internationally Influential Academic Journal, the 2025 list of the world's leading sci‑tech journals, the 2025 Report on World Journal Clout Index (WJCI) of Scientific and Technological Periodicals, and Leading English‑Language Journal Project under Hubei’s Chutian Excellence Action Plan. It is currently indexed in ESCI, Scopus, CSCD, Ei Compendex, and DOAJ. It ranks in Clarivate’s JCR Q1 and is listed as a CAS Q1 Top Journal and Q1 Top New Journal.

This inclusion fully recognizes the journal’s publication quality, academic performance, and comprehensive influence. In the future, WUT will continue to promote the development of world‑class academic journals and gather frontier achievements. The university will make great efforts to facilitate international academic exchanges and to underpin talent training and scientific research. It will provide strong support for its high‑quality development and the “Double First‑Class” initiative, and contribute to the country’s pursuit of high-level self-reliance and strength in science and technology.
