Recently, the Chinese Consulate General in Manchester had sent a letter of appreciation to WUT to thank for its committed and strong support for the work of the Chinese Consulate General in Manchester and its contribution to the friendly exchanges between Wuhan and Manchester, two cities respectively in China and the UK.
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level between China and the UK, the letter read, the first UK-China Hydrogen Energy Cooperation Forum was held in Manchester and Wuhan from April 28 to 29, 2022. As the organizer, WUT actively participated in the preparation and organization of the forum and endeavored to ensure the forum would achieve the expected results. May WUT take this forum as an opportunity to strengthen scientific and technological research and development cooperation with the UK in the field of hydrogen energy and other green energies and make greater contributions to the global response to climate change!
UK-China Hydrogen Energy Cooperation Forum opened on April 28 when representatives of relevant Chinese and British government departments, hydrogen energy academia, scientific and technological circles and business circles held a discussion about hydrogen energy industry. President Yang Zongkai of WUT attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered a speech on behalf of the university. He said that in recent years WUT had made some achievements in the research and application of hydrogen energy. As an active participant in the field of hydrogen energy research, WUT was more than willing to work with its British counterparts to contribute to the cooperative development of UK-China hydrogen energy through education and technology, serve the implementation of the national new energy development strategy and bring to the fruition of the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals. It was also ready to cooperate with partners from all fields and make contributions to UK-China hydrogen energy technological cooperation through the “WUT wisdom”.
At the opening ceremony, Wuhan and Manchester signed a memorandum of cooperation on hydrogen energy industrial exchange between the two cities. On behalf of WUT, Vice President Wang Fazhou signed an interscholastic cooperation agreement with Manchester Metropolitan University, and another Vice President, Wu Chaozhong, delivered a keynote report to introduce the development of hydrogen energy research in China.
On April 29th, UK-China Hydrogen Energy Cooperation Forum was held in the conference center of WUT. In the online conference, China and the UK held heated discussions on the future development of hydrogen energy and cooperation prospects of Wuhan and Manchester in hydrogen energy in a sound atmosphere.
Academician Zhang Qingjie from WUT commented on the speeches and discussions of experts. He believed that this forum provided an important exchange platform for both Chinese and British hydrogen energy experts, and all representatives made positive and pragmatic reports, thus creating a sound atmosphere for UK-China hydrogen energy cooperation. Professor Pan Mu, the director of Hubei Fuel Cell Key Laboratory, introduced the history, specific research direction, achievements and transformation of hydrogen energy research in our university.
It was reported that UK-China Hydrogen Energy Cooperation Forum was aimed at carrying out the important consensus on strengthening new energy cooperation reached by the leaders of China and the UK. It was a practical measure for the friendly cooperation between Wuhan and Manchester, and was also of great significance to promote the hydrogen energy cooperation between the two cities and facilitate the green and low-carbon development of the two countries and the two cities. People’s Daily, the Xinhua News Agency, Central China Television and China Daily soon interviewed and reported on the forum.
